Atlantic Future

ATLANTIC FUTURE was a 3-year collaborative research project funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme. It was developed by a consortium of 13 partners during a period of 36 months, from January 2013 to December 2015.

The aim of the ATLANTIC FUTURE was to study the rationales of cooperation in the Atlantic area and to suggest strategies to the EU on how to engage with the wider transatlantic relationship in the context of the ongoing redistribution of power and the overall rebalancing of relations around and within the Atlantic space.

Most of the institutions of the Atlantic Future have collaborated on themes related to pan-Atlantic issues and the role of the EU as a pan-Atlantic actor. The Jean Monnet Network on Atlantic Studies appears as a continuation of the collaborative work in the interdisciplinary exploration of three main subjects: Human security, Economy and Energy. Contributing to a better understanding of the interactions between Europe and Atlantic Continents.
